How do clients tip on StyleSeat?

Your clients have a few different options for tipping on StyleSeat. They can tip you immediately after their appointment from your mobile device or leave a tip up to 24 hours after the appointment from their own device. After the appointment, your client will be sent a text message and email to confirm their tip and leave a review. link 

 

Processing the tip at checkout with your mobile device

After you click the Checkout button in the appointment, you’ll be prompted to pass your device to the client. The client will select their tip amount using one of the presets or enter a custom amount. After selecting their preferred tip amount, the client will sign on the screen and tap Approve. Once approved, the client will hand the device back to you to complete checkout, and their payment will be processed immediately. 



Get tipped up to 24 hours after the appointment

If the client does not leave a tip immediately after their appointment, they’ll still have an opportunity to tip you on StyleSeat. After the appointment is completed, the client will be sent a text message and email with a link to confirm or update their tip and leave you a review. 


We give clients 24 hours to confirm or adjust their tips. Clients with a StyleSeat account can set up a default tip percentage in their account settings to be applied automatically to all of their appointments. If the client does not click the link within 24 hours, the default tip set in their account will be applied to the appointment. 



How can I see how much a client tipped?

  • You can find your tip earnings in multiple places on StyleSeat. 
  • If you want to see the tip left for a specific appointment, you can find it easily in the appointment details window. Navigate to and click on the appointment in your StyleSeat calendar. If the client chose to leave a tip, you’ll see it listed as a line item in the appointment details.



To see all of your tip earnings for the day or within a specific time period, visit your Earnings tab. 

  1. On your mobile device, click Earnings at the bottom of the screen
  2. Then click the Earnings tab at the top of the screen 

OR

  1. From the StyleSeat desktop website, click Growth
  2. Click Earnings 


On this page, you’ll see all of your revenue for the day by default. If you want a larger time frame, use the dropdown box to select weekly, monthly, or yearly.



Please note that the Earnings tab will show all revenue, including any cash payments processed on StyleSeat. If you only want to see the tips you’ve earned from card transactions paid through StyleSeat:

  1. From your mobile device, click Earnings at the bottom of the screen
  2. Then click (three dots in the top right of the screen)
  3. In the dropdown menu, click Transactions

OR

  1. From the StyleSeat desktop website, click Growth
  2. Then click Transactions


This page will show you all card transactions processed on StyleSeat, including tips.

My client tipped in cash. Why were they charged a tip on StyleSeat as well?

Clients have up to 24 hours to confirm or update their tip, including declining to tip on StyleSeat if they’ve already tipped in cash. If your client does not click the link sent to them after the appointment within 24 hours, the default tip set in their account will be charged and applied to the appointment.


If you need to issue your client a refund for the tip charged on StyleSeat, you are able to issue a partial refund for certain appointment types. If you find you are unable to process a refund due to appointment type, please reach out to our Support team instead. 


Can I see what default tip setting my client has set up?

The default tip setting is only available from the client’s account and cannot be viewed from your professional account. For instructions on how clients can set up their default tip, please refer to this support article: How-To | Tip Your Professional


Why haven’t I received my tip?

There are a number of factors that may result in your tip payment being delayed. If the client opted to tip after their appointment, the tip will be included in the same payment as the service charge. However, if the client tips on StyleSeat using the link sent to them after the appointment, your tip payment will be processed as a separate charge. 


  • It may take up to 24 hours after the appointment for the tip payment to process, depending on if your client chooses to confirm their tip or allows their default tip to be processed automatically. 
  • If it has been more than 24 hours since the appointment, your client may have chosen to decline to tip on StyleSeat. Alternatively, the client’s tip payment may have been declined.
