Understanding the $1 Authentication Charge

Article Summary: Learn about the $1 authentication charge, including why it occurs and how it affects your payment.

At StyleSeat, we use a $1 authentication check to verify that the credit card you’ve entered is active and properly funded.

What is the $1 Authentication Charge?

The $1 authentication check occurs either the day before or on the day of your scheduled appointment. This small, temporary charge is a way for banks and credit card processors to verify that your card is active and ready to be used for the upcoming appointment.

NOTE: This is not a fee; it's simply a temporary authorization, and it will be reserved. Depending on your card's issuing bank, it may take up to 48 hours for the charge to disappear from your statement.
